#12529 So I love playing guitar and bass and singing, and i just love making music in general. The problem is is that i am really shy about it and i'm not sure if i'm a good singer, i wont even sing in front of my best friends because i'm afraid of being bad. I'm already working on ten plus songs and i don't know what i would do if i found out i wasnt a good singer. I mean finding someone else is always an option... but im not sure.

#12510 People are too easily offended by unimportant things nowadays.

This bowing to micro-aggressions has to stop. Seriously, the world is too screwed up for you to be complaining about a guy holding a door for a girl to be sexist.

That's energy and dedication you could be using to fight against sex slavery and genocide. But no, you waste it on complaining about some sign you didn't like or other little thing.

Grow up and get over yourself.

#12522 To domestic students,

Hi. I'm an international student. First off, I want to say that it has been an absolute pleasure being able to come to Purdue and meet so many cool people. Y'all are real cool.

It's not easy coming to an entirely new country with different cultural values, especially being so far away from home. We miss speaking our language back home, we miss the food, we miss the people, heck we are severely out of our comfort zone. Which is why I humbly ask that please don't diss us when we speak in our own language, and when we do things that may seem weird to you. It's not that we don't want to speak English. We do. But sometimes it's really hard on us. We fumble with words, we are afraid of being laughed at, and for most of us, we come from a culture where people think you are crazy if you initiate a random conversation with a stranger. We want to make American friends, and speak English, but please understand that it's sometimes hard for us to be brave enough to take the first step.

So here's my little selfish request. Next time whenever you see an international student, just say hi. They might ignore you, but they might also respond back, albeit with a little shyness. You will have made someone's day!

(sorry for the long post)

#12528 i thought i had this really good friend. We always helped each other out when we were in the same classes. Now that we only have a few classes together, everytime i ask him for his help or advice, he always has excuses. Never once have I ever not help him or at least get a person to help him. It breaks my heart to think that I am no longer important enough for him to give me a few minutes of his time.. i tried to not let this bother me cause i am a relatively happy person, but he was a really dear person to me (and he still is), its just sad to know how people can change so quickly. I hope he reads this and understand how much it hurts me. and of all of this, my biggest mistake is that i fell for him to the point where being mad at him is impossible.

#12527 If I ever have enough money after graduation to donate back to my alma mater (Purdue), I would love to write a huge check with one stipulation: It doesn't go to sports, it goes to expand CAPS to allow more students to get the help they need and to help end the horrible stigmas associated with mental illness.Seriously, Purdue: someone suffering from major depression doesn't need to "suck it up," despite what many of you think.

#12521 To people who smoke outside the Physics building entrance closest to the physics bus stop please knock it off. That is not a smoking post. I have to hold my breath for 30 sec when entering the physics building to prevent secondhand smoke and getting nicotine in my system I'm pretty sure others feel the same way. If you want to inhale poison in your lungs for fun go ahead but please go to a designated smoking post and away from any university building entrances.
Thanks
