#13725 I'm a minority who grew up in the Midwest, then got a job on the West Coast after graduating from Purdue. Contrary to what people say, the Midwest is far less racist than the West Coast. There's more minorities on the Coast, but precisely because there's so many minorities there, there's lots of friction between all the groups - Whites think Asians are stealing jobs, Asians think Mexicans are all in gangs, etc etc. This is also an impediment to assimilation. In the Midwest, everyone assimilates into everyone else's culture, and we all get along irrespective of race. Also, people are just generally nicer and more friendly in the Midwest.
