#14538 Some people are just too controlling. I can understand not wanting your gf/bf to be all oooey gooey with others, but having a close group of friends with some people of the opposite gender should not be a problem. Especially when the person "at fault" is trying to get the other to join said group of friends. It sucks knowing you hurt someone but the trust has to start somewhere. People like privacy. Even you do. So hypocritical.

#14477 That feeling when you see your crush holding a baby and you're like "damn, they would be the best mother/father in the world"

#14591 This isn't a confession so much as it is thinking out loud. Adding to this discussion would provoke some interesting conversation however, so I'd like to share this.
While taking a Women, Sexuality, and Genders studies course, we talk about the female African American community and unfortunate stereotypes regarding certain races. An African American girl in my class mentioned something along these lines of "talking white" and being made fun of for what is considered talking properly as opposed to "sounding ghetto" like she mentioned.
I stumbled upon this video and it made me think of that unfortunate stereotype she faces where she is made fun of for how she talks when she is just as "black" as the next African American girl.
When did we as a people start to become racist against our own fellow races?
Be how you want to be and don't try to act a certain way because you think you need to fit into a certain stereotype of your race or gender. Not all African Americans "talk ghetto", not all white people are "lazy and stuck up", not all hispanics are "unintelligent", and not all asians are "rich and smart". And if you do fit the stereotype then so be it, but do not be ashamed of who you are just because you fit into a category. If you don't act the way the rest of your fellow category does, then don't be ashamed of being unique.
So if you're reading this and relate to a situation where you were made fun of for not meeting your stereotype or for being too stereotypical, I'd like to hear your thoughts here :)

#14448 I have no idea what I'm going to do for spring break. I don't have too many friends. I don't think I'm going to go on mainstream Florida Spring Break trip. Plus, it's too late even if I had money and friends to go with.

#14447 Hi guys, I joined Purdue this semester and I am a lil shy. So making friends for me is harder than MA 162. I am bombed with one advice all the time, to go out and talk to people. But y'all know the weather outside is such a bitch. I have no choice but to spend all day inside my room, alone. So anyone here would like to be my buddy, but no hanging out?
FYI, I am an Indian girl in FYE. I am very awkward in social situations cuz I don't know how to react. Need someone to teach me a thing or two about American culture. Right now I am assuming it's mostly about pizzas, free food, and smiling at each other's face. I really love the food here. Though it's a bit unhealthy, my stomach gives no shit.
