#18769 The lack of propriety I've witnessed on Yik Yak about 9/11. I understand that the younger students here may not remember that day but jokes about that day are inappropriate. It's embarrassing to see my fellow students take such a tragic topic so light heartedly. Yes, it's been 14 years but there are people on this campus who lost loved ones in the attack. But whether we lost a loved one that day or not, we were all affected. I still have images of people jumping from 1000 feet up. I can still hear all the firefighters' PASS devices going off in unison when the towers fell. It's been 14 years, some have moved on while others still have mental scars. 9/11 is a day where respect to those who died and their loved ones should be exhibited.

#18767 I feel that all this social activism has gone overboard. To hear people talk about trans rights, black rights, women rights would be valuable if it wasn't so bigoted. A lot of activist groups I see simply wouldn't admit that their theories and ideology aren't completely flawless. In addition, they tell you that any criticism, or existence of antis, somehow further justifies their group and so falls your argument, no matter how valid, into a circular trap. Before you know it, you're accused of being a misogynist white supremacist by idiots who don't even know your ethnicity.

If you're willing to put forth an honest side of your perspective and respond to criticism constructively, props to you.

If you're that kind of activist to say "just shut up and listen because I am oppressed" I will feel sorry for you and anyone that listens to you. I will also respectfully ask you to get the fuck out of my face.

#18766 I feel pretty isolated on campus. I am an upperclassman, and I think I've wasted all my time at college. I have social anxiety, and a lot of the times when I want to attend something, I get anxiety to the point that I can't go. I've considered Greek life in the past, but I didn't try because I was insecure about my looks. Perhaps I should join clubs, but it seems like I wouldnt benefit from most of the clubs since I am not an engineering or science major. Or maybe I should talk to people in class, but I'm having a difficult time with that too. What do I talk about? What if I take someone's unassigned seat? Are friendships made with classmates short-lived? Basically I don't even know where to start in forming connections. I really want to change my situation instead of being my passive self in the past, but I am worried I won't be able to follow through.
