If we do, the logical location is the math building. Why?

1) Ease of vehicle access. Streets going to and from it, able to traverse both sides of it easily (university street directly, almost directly from memorial mall), multiple routes of vehicular entry, and finally, the "land bridge" section. When transporting a high value target, you'd want them as protected as possible and outside of protected walls for as short a period as possible upon leaving the presumably armored vehicle. Insert the "land bridge" where vehicles could readily limit access and provide cover to both sides.

2) Public access is further below unexposed ground than Hicks, by quite a bit. Hicks is very exposed, especially on state street which would seem to rule it out as a location whilst the math building is a good 30+ feet underground at the "basement" level.

3) Again with the land bridge. Likely story to claim it's a way around the university hall height limitation. Yet the old enad smokestack was much higher than University and what better way to provide cover than to claim it's built in such a way to get around that limitation? Same with laeb/beering hall.

4) Date of final construction was 1967. Deep inside the child war, 5 years after the Cuban missile crisis, and we're reasonably inland with reasonable distances to Major cities plus our own airport. We've also got Wade that can shut off non-essential buildings and run Purdue as an "Island" during a grid failure.


Over thinking? Perhaps. Maybe I'm just procrastinating studying for an exam. But hey, we're at school because of our inquisitive minds right?
