#23321 I feel like I'm one of the only people who is pro-choice when it comes to suicide. All of the same arguments concerning abortion apply, but suddenly everyone says you need to preserve life at any cost, regardless of what the individual wants. You can say that's it's a medical condition preventing them from thinking clearly, but I can say from experience that depression doesn't suddenly make you a child incapable of making your own decisions. You can say that it hurts your friends and family, but it's a personal decision that has nothing to do with them. Trying to guilt trip someone into worrying about your pain when all they want to do is escape their own is frankly amazingly selfish.
And before the cascade of comments trying to "save me" come flooding in, no I'm not suicidal. I just don't understand the knee-jerk reflex of trying to stop informed adults from making decisions about what they believe is best in their situation.
