#22217 I have a friend who means the world to me. This person had something terrible happen to them and they were really messed up emotionally by it. This person before has told me that they consider me a part of their family, someone they can trust. Here's the normal part. I have feelings for this person. One day, this person opened up to me, told me a lot about what she's going through, and I told them how I felt as well. While my fears of ruining our relationship were not realized, I was told that we as a thing might not work out, because they were afraid of losing me in their life as well. This person was so distraught and sad, I could do nothing but accept that. But now I find myself in a position where I am confronted with conflicting desires, and it's tearing me apart inside. One desire wants there to be more between us, but another side simply wants to see this person happy. I know I'm being selfish and I hate myself for it. I know for a fact that I don't ever want to see this person hurt by anything that I've done, and I have no intention of ever abandoning this person. I am so confused that I don't know what to do.
