#25147 Ladies - Do not let the university or city police diminish your concerns for safety. Let me explain.
I am a 48 year old student at MSU along with my soon graduating 22 y/o daughter. We live off campus. Over the past few weeks she had a concern about someone in our complex who kept coming out to talk to her by asking her where she works, when she comes home at night etc.
While he wasn't necessarily threatening, as a precautionary measure she went to the Bozeman PD yesterday to file an informational report in case something escalated. This is common and as citizens you have a right to put these kinds of things on file with the local or campus police.
There were two officers interviewing her. One was polite and professional. The other dismissed her concerns as someone who "just has a crush on you."
This is not the correct position or attitude for any police officer to take. To me this officer's responses and attitude directly correlate to why many women don't ever report sexual or other assaults.
She will be going back to the PD today to file an official complaint regarding his dismissal of a potential safety issue. As a father and a believer in womens safety I will be addressing the next city council meeting with this issue as well as a writing a letter to the chief of campus police to ensure that officers are reminded this is the wrong position to take towards the potential safety of women on campus.
I post this here knowing that many young women on campus will see this. I encourage you to never accept this type of dismissal or condescension from any law enforcement officer. If you are ever assaulted, or you ever feel there is a potential problem, don't hide. Don't keep it to yourself. Put it out there, protect yourself, and make sure they take it seriously.
Peace

"A light must be used when traveling at night. Per Montana Statute, bicycles must be equipped with a "...lamp in front which is visible for a distance of 500 feet..." and a reflector on the rear which shall be visible from 500 feet to the rear"..."
If you get hit the only person to blame is yourself so instead oh yelling at me take some fucking responsibility !! You are wearing all black peddling down a dark road going 20 who do you really expect to see you? I wish I would have run your ass over because now oops sorry officer he should have had a head light.

#25135 I confess, this is a really scary time for America, don't you think it would be wise that as a citizen of this country, you owe it to yourself and to others to do quality research, ask lots of concerning questions, gather unbiased information, open your eyes and your heart and truly try to understand some of the issues facing our country? Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but opinions are the lowest form of human intelligence; and when it comes down to it, many sides are available, but only one can actually be absolutely best for most everyone involved.. This is true for politics, as with many other issues. And although you may believe you are right about something, you may be ill-informed. I think a good way to know if your opinion is leaning more towards being the best choice, ask yourself, am I being kind? Does my opinion on how things should be involve the hurting of someone else? I think that if we are going to make choices in this country we need to follow two rules: scientific evidence, and the highest level of human compassion achievable.. When it does come to politics, I think in this day and age we can rule out the party or candidate that could cause the most hurt or who could decrease the quality of life for someone else. Wildlife areas, clean water, the low income, families, women's rights, veterans, the middle/working class, our children.. So many things to consider. It matters what your opinions are. Because your opinions of the world can have an impact. And if you are ill-informed, biased, closed off or simply angry, there is a chance you could really do damage to our country which has the potential to be great. My heart actually hurts, I feel ashamed to be an American sometimes.. I care so much, as many people do, but when there are people who are going against those that are trying to enforce truly positive movements because of fear, ignorance, misunderstanding or thoughtlessness it effects everyone. I had to get this off my heart. I guess if you reply to this post with bitterness, hostility or negativity, you will be Confirming my concerns. keep your options open, and be kind to your fellow Montana state confessors. Or anyone else for that matter

#25134 I understand pedestrian right of way, and I try to stop for all of you. However, when you walk with a brisk pace and not a single glance up or down the street into the roadway I'm assuming you want to die. The lack of common sense or the carlessness for your life is beyond me.

#25133 In middle school and high school, I thought women were smarter then men.
Now that I'm in college, I realize that women are just as stupid as men.
