#25266 To the judgemental driver who decided to tell my friend that he “needs to lose weight”:

Next time that you decide that you want to comment on someone's weight, please catch yourself. I get it. We all find ourselves thinking of something judgemental about another person (even if we are the nicest people we know). However, next time, instead of leaning your head outside of your vehicle to say something that person probably already knows and you know will not only embarrass them but hurt them, ask yourself “why am I being so judgemental?” I know there were some really hot babes stretching on the corner as they prepared for their jog and you wanted to seem “cool”. But that is no excuse. The man you decided needed to “hear your wisdom” was just enjoying a walk on this fine Montana springtime day! Yet you ruined that by rolling down your window. That person you called fat? It is quite possible that the person you are judging already lost 50 pounds, goes the gym 5 days a week and lives on rice cakes and spinach. It is also possible that this person is dealing with trauma from bullying or even recovering from a severe illness they have no control over. Perhaps they decided to focus on their college career, full time job, and family as a main priority. This “fat” person you talked to is not only the funniest person I know, but he is also the kindest person I know. However, as you leaned your head out of the window to spew out your inaccurate summarization of this human being you had never met you not only destroyed the little confidence he had gained on his weight loss journey but you also added to the stereotype that you have to be a size 0 to really obtain any acceptance and happiness in this world.

Come on, MSU. We are all trying to get through college, get through our own battles and simply get through finals. Next time you see someone who is plus size, lift them up. They have to deal with things like this on a regular basis and something as simple as “Hey, that shirt looks really good on your!” can really validate all their hard work. Stay classy, MSU.
