Fellow econ majors (+stem)--why defend the econ dept against the commies on campus? Apply your education and encourage them to major in classics, art, or whatever they want...the fewer of us there are, the better: would you rather compete against a fellow econ major for your first job after graduation or a WGSS major?

You can have your reservations, your critiques, your issues with "Stop White Noise". But at least think about what the point is. I think you'll find it's a pretty good one. Now, I have my own doubts about silence as a political strategy. I think that I should be allowed to say that without being attacked. Questioned, sure. I am a little wary of some of the tactics SWN is using. Not because they're oppressing me. They're not. I'm worried they may be preventing a more productive discussion. But also, I'm not really an authority. So take that all with a large grain of salt. I, a white student, think I should still listen and think hard about what I am being asked to do and to consider. When asked to think in a new way, I should oblige. I think some of you angry folks should think about doing the same. We are here to learn after all. You can't complain about people trying to silence you while trying to silence them. It makes not sense.

P.S. Sorry, I know this isn't really in the spirit of stopping white noise, what with the whiteness and long-winded-ness. I just hope to swing some people towards being more open. Not be the hero, just encourage some thought. I hope nobody minds.
