Please stop calling Macalester liberal. According to Google one definition of liberal is "open to new behavior or opinions" and one definition of illiberal is "restricting freedom of thought or behavior." The mainstream Macalester point of view contains dogmas, irrefutable "truths" that don't stop being true even after presented with contradicting evidence (i.e. trump is bad, america is racist, minorities are oppressed, etc). To check if you have a dogma ask yourself the following question: what evidence would make this belief untrue? If you don't have the answer to that question, then you have a dogma. Macalester has an illiberal left-wing political ideology. Reject fundamentalism.
