Honestly, Assad is the best possible leader in Syria. The only other real alternative is chaos like in Libya - now in its second civil war since Qadaffi. He's introduced many, many liberalizing reforms - just because you don't have democracy doesn't make you a terrible leader. And democracy would not work in a place with that many different identities, sectarian violence would rule - just like in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Long live Assad tbh.
