#1226 I have to say. As a black guy. I am really confused about the whole #BlackLivesMatter movement. On the one hand its great that people are acknowledging that black men have been getting executed in the United States since it was a country. But I can't help but feel that people aren't truly genuine about their statuses proclaiming outrage about the whole Ferguson outcome. It just seems like an in the moment thing. A month from now most people will forget that "#BlackLivesMatter" and fall back into their comfort zone routines while the struggle continues on... I hate to come off as so pessimistic but am I really wrong... At the end of the day at least people are now more aware that black people, black men in particular have a hard time living in this country.

#1224 The distance between the curb and the median on grand is this just-barely-off fractional multiple of my trot span and I walk out into the street when I shouldn't sometimes bc I don't like playing that game with moving traffic where I say lol I'll go no lol u go no lol okay me (you shitfuck Minnesotans -god bless you wonderful people- love this game) so then I try to get across quickly but then end up with this last portion of the road to deal with that's just a little too long for me to reach with my final step comfortably, if at all, which ends in me having to desperately leap to safety or do this cute little maneuver I call the 2-step skippidy jig where I take a quick baby step then a normal step to get to the sidewalk. The whole system gets fucked when there's that dangerous as hell dirt and ice bank stretching a foot out from the curb for most of the year. #1220 Mob justice is no justice. In the current debacle in Ferguson, the fact that the cop was acquitted shows a strength of our justice system, not a weakness. We cannot sentence someone to a crime if there is not enough evidence to convict him. While this may on occasion allow the guilty to go free, it also makes wrongful convictions far more difficult.

It sickens me to see so many of my "friends" on Facebook supporting the rioters. There are other avenues for frustration in this country. Why do so many of us think that it's okay to riot and destroy the property and livelihoods of people not even involved in the event.

I see good people swept into the frenzy of a popular narrative, regardless of the truth. It's a shame I'm too cowardly to call them out on it for fear of becoming an outcast.

I highly recommend the film "Twelve Angry Men" to anyone interested by the way. While it is definitely a product of its time and can be accused of over sentimentality, its subject matter is incredibly relevant here.
