#1259 I find it hard to feel a sense of solidarity with some people who have recently posted articles related to #Blacklivesmatter. I appreciate the wave of emotion and passion that an incredibly violent and horrific tragedy such as the recent murders of Mike Brown and Eric Garner, but I can't help but feel saddened. Racism is all around us, it has been forever and continues to be. Does it really take extreme murders-- what I could consider the actualization of violent events that, to be honest are always a potential occurrence given the hate that exists in this country-- for people to see that all of this, it's not just about a poor judicial system, it's not just about the police force, it is about the system under which we thrive. It's about our history as a imperialist country. I think that part of this is just that racism and oppression-- these are constant forces that have different manifestations. (Let's not be blinded sided by the symptoms, but be aware of all of the power, race and class issues that contribute and reinforce this kind of awful, inhumane behavior.)
