Just checked the stats of class 2021. 39% acceptance rate, 2090 median SAT, ACT 32. These years MAC has been raising its acceptance rate while the median SAT remains basically unchanged in a time of SAT score inflation. I wonder what that says about the school.

I applaud the efforts of those who continue to believe macalester (as part of the larger concept of a liberal arts education )is a redeemable institution / relevant concept

I here so often "conservatives don't care about the poor" and this simply isn't true. We want to have people donate to non-profit organizations where more of our money is going straight to those who need it rather than be taxed and have so much money wasted going through the federal government bureaucracy. That way people who are able to help can and those who can't (i.e. THE POOR) don't get taxed as much.

How do you know if a person is struggling or not? How do you know if someone is romanticizing their mental illness? That's right, because you don't and you just live off your own set of assumptions. Not everyone who has mental illness has the ability to get themselves diagnosed. Sometimes even the happiest appearing people are the ones who are hurting inside the most. I've spent so much of my life trying to make it look like I'm okay and I'm happy so other people don't worry, but the reality of my situation is that I'm the most miserable person inside and have been for years. I don't like to talk about it because I try to be as positive as I can for the sake of others. Every day I'm fighting.

Mac confessions is legit the glue of this campus. If hateful people didn't have a place to anonymously troll and self righteous people didn't have a place to display their self righteousness, where would this school be?

Honestly Niara Williams is straight up a hero for commenting on so many misguided posts about politics and society. They're always so informative and calm despite having every reason to tell people off and be angry and frustrated. People really should start taking advantage of Niara's offer to anonymously explain things/help them find resources for $5, because they seriously deserve to be paid for how much they're teaching people on this page. (Sorry if 'they' isn't an ideal pronoun, niara, your page didn't have any listed and I didn't want to misgender you!)

What is wrong with you conservative-sympathetic people at MAC? Your proposed tolerance towards conservatives simply allows for and perpetuates the systemic inequality seen in PIC, and cultural genocide and wipeout of minorities. It's like throwing " all lives matter" in front of " black lies matter". The social norm that privileges those identities such as white male cisgender heterosexual isn't gonna stop marginalizing the minorities due to your proposed toleration. Either you fight back or you suck it. Wait till there is an equal playing field before you show your holy "neutrality" and "objectivity". In a world of inequality as seen today, toleration is being raped while praying for the well being of the raper. It makes me wonder the toleration warriors either never suffered from the rape or they are the rapers themselves.
