We all have had our ups and downs here, I know I personally have wanted to transfer before and been so fed up at times.. But really, you will find that wherever you go. Augustana was not my first choice school, but now after almost 2 years, I have found the place where I belong. Honestly, if you don't want to be here, no one wants to hear about it. If you stop focusing on all of the things you hate about this school and start focusing on all of the things you love, you will find your home here too because it really is an amazing place. Yeah, it's small and it seems like everyone knows everything, but I know I wouldn't be as the person I am now without it.

You do NOT have to be ashamed if you're still a virgin. You are NOT a prude if you have never had sex and you're a junior. I've seen posts here involving being upset about being a virgin and pretending not to be a virgin to potentially impress someone or to keep someone around, and that really bothers me. I'm eighteen and have never kissed or dated anyone. I'm an attractive, quirky, and fun-loving girl, and I like to think that I could make a guy happy if we had a mutual connection. But the thing is that I am very weird about physical touch, and I don't like it when people get in my face or hug on me all the time; it has made me strangely uncomfortable since I was little, so of course I'm uncomfortable about sex! I want to actually talk to and date a guy before anything like that happens. People seem so concerned about "getting it over with" here, though, so I feel as if I'd be branded a "prude" if people could see behind my anonymity. Labels are sickening. No one should feel bad about being a virgin!

I'm lactose intolerant and I absolutely HATE it. I miss cheese and ice cream so much, so sometimes--rarely--I eat a teaspoon of ice-cream or have just a tiny bite of pizza. But no matter how small the amount, it's always WWIII in the bathroom an hour later, and I swear I could kill a person with my gas. And no, lactose intolerant pills don't work for me. Sad life :'(

Augustana Admission statistics have shown that Catholics and Lutherans make up the largest portion of the religious student body. However, my experience has led me to believe that there exists an unofficial taboo on members of these traditions for them to publicly express their faith, especially on moral issues. For instance, more conservative positions on gay marriage are sort of looked down upon with a quiet disdain. If there is a response to such positions, it commonly takes the form of saying that that the person should keep his moral views to himself for the sake of tolerance. Yet, such a reply amounts to hypocrisy. By advocating that I should keep my moral system to myself, such a person is actually imposing their own moral system on me, even though it was just previously stated by that same person that moral views should be kept private. In other words, telling people that they ought to keep their moral views private is self-refuting. If morality is worth anything, then it cannot be kept hidden in private.

I look forward to Halloween just so I can look like a slut 1 day out of the year. Unlike some girls, who decide every time they go out to make it a slut-a-thon and Halloween is just another day. But I save Halloween for that. It's also a good motivation to work out.
