I came from a high school that had an absolutely mediocre music program. Nobody tried or cared. I have loved music my whole life, but never had the opportunity to perform music as I do now. To come here and perform in ensembles with musicians who genuinely care and have passion for music is truly a sublime experience. Earlier this year, in Augustana's Orchestra, we performed Lamentate by Arvo Pärt. There were sections in that piece where each musician's sound was so carefully controlled and precise; it was so subtle, and yet so painfully beautiful. Moments in that piece seemed to transcend reality and the imperfections of the world. It brought me to an ethereal state of mind. I will never forget that experience for as long as I live. I feel so privileged to have had the opportunity to perform with such a group. I simply cannot justify why some people can take their ensembles for granted and raise trivial matters to obscene levels. An experience will only give you as much as you allow it. If you can let the privilege of being in such an ensemble become your own engendered burden of trivial matters, you have seriously taken the wrong path. To people who want to be in an ensemble because you enjoy or have passion for music: DO IT! Don't let what some people say about the ensembles here deter you from participating; they are misguided and have no idea how truly awesome music is!

I wish more people were like me and preferred to smoke weed than drink. To me, drinkning is so overrated. Getting high and talking about life with friends is so much more relaxing than going to parties and getting fucked up all the time. High sex is so much better than drunk sex, and not nearly as sloppy. If you haven't tried weed, you're missing out!

The misfortunes of others during chem lab makes me smile. Especially when I found out my friend and previous lab partner broke a thermometer today. I about died laughing.

I really want to start a White Student Union. Because honestly, I'm part of the diverse culture here, but when I try to do anything about it, I get told "That's racist." And that's racist.
