#5115 Y'all motherfuckers need to chill the fuck out with this political activism and smoke a blunt! Y'all are so busy with this stupid debate that y'all have forgotten what it feels like to chill, smoke, relax and get baked without a care in the world.
#5114 If you go to Rollins, you can afford to do activism that goes beyond acting self-righteous on the internet. Even if you're full fucking scholarship, you're privileged enough class-wise to do it. And everyone I've ever seen on this campus is able-bodied enough to go out in the world and do something. It's not like you have to march for hours on end. There are a ton of things you can do to help a cause that will actually contribute something and not just make you and your cause look awful.
You claim that everyone else who argues with you is trying to derail the conversation and then you make accusations that people are being ableist and classist instead of owning up to a valid argument.
Less people take you seriously every time you post something.
#5113 Your constant use of the word "folks" makes me fucking insane.
#5112 Person: "It's a beautiful day out today."
Politically correct warrior: You're an elitist anti-human racist hobbitphobic ableist and your comment is offensive to Narwahl Americans.
#5111 "Defining ourselves as activists’ means defining our actions as the ones which will bring about social change, thus disregarding the activity of thousands upon thousands of other non-activists. Activism is based upon this misconception that it is only activists that do social change. It is crucial to not fall into the trap of alienating oneself by doing this, as it can lead to a sense of delusion that you solely are the bringer of change, combined with a distancing of yourself from the wider population and also alienating those who may be supportive."
Pretty much sums up the attitude of the activists at our school. Oddly enough, the peole I see doing the most good in the world are not the same ones preaching about it.
#5110 What I think the person who posted 5106 and 5109 is trying to say is to take your passion in the cause to a more physical place instead of just posting about it on Facebook every 5 minutes. While there are people who post and also volunteer, a lot of people just post constantly without doing anything contributive.
#5109 @5106 - that's because most of the school's "activists" have never done any activism. They post facebook statuses and "protest" in the middle of a secluded campus lawn. They join student organizations to sit around and talk about how privileged everybody is. A few of them MAYBE donate to a cause every once in awhile. They don't lobby. They don't go out into the real world and volunteer. They put in just enough time and effort to be self-righteous, and then they continue to enjoy their 40k a year education.
#5108 Guys, the stress-poops are so real right now...
