Why are people bothering to make 'Yes All Women' posts? I understand that it started in response to that guy who went on a shooting spree in which he blamed women for his problems, but how the happy hell did that turn into women going onto twitter and facebook to point out personal issues they've had with men? You're arguing against the ideals of a homicidal/suicidal mentally disturbed person. That's like arguing with a rock; it's pointless. The fact this became a movement just shows how stupid and trend-obsessed some people are. I'm not downplaying the struggles of women, I'm pointing out the stupidity of arguing with a now dead-guy of unsound mind.

Why do people look for signs of privilege in posts on here? Like pointing out some philosophical ideas or even just certain wording as being signs of privilege will add anything. We get it, many people at Hamline are privileged. It doesn't mean it has to be the defining aspect of campus life/interactions. P.S. I'm betting someone will tell me I'm privileged for what I said here.

I don't typically post, but it's summer and I'm bored. Angry about "not all men," huh? The contentious phrase "not all men..." uses the exact same reasoning as its prompting phrase "some men abuse women," and it is extremely hypocritical to get upset over its use. Allow me to illustrate. If someone says, "some men abuse women" and I respond with, "not all men do this" that is an ENTIRELY valid response to your entirely valid assertion——some men steal, some men kill, some men work hard, some men are kind, and some men do abuse, and some men do NOT abuse. Fuming whenever someone responds with the unequivocal fact that some men do NOT abuse carries the same logical fallacy which you claim to oppose. If equality is what you seek, then be careful not to trample on the rights of the other "some men and women" who are, indeed, faultless in the matter.

Honest question - What is wrong with saying "not all men"? I ask this with complete sincerity, shouldn't the men that do things like rape be reminded that they are in the minority and what they do isn't standard? Once again this is an honest inquiry, not a rhetorical question trying to prove something.
