Empathy doesn't require experience. All it requires is the context of the situation, i.e. culture, biases, location, members involved, personal history, etc. Anyone can then imagine how, under that set of circumstances, someone would feel. Empathy in a nutshell. Don't claim people can't empathize just because they haven't walked in your shoes. Imagining your shoes is all it takes.
