#5697 5663 - if you're graduating and don't care, then why do you feel the need to hide your opinion behind an anonymous forum? Go tell the music department how you really feel instead. The rest of us don't give a shit. I like my music major friends just as much as any of my other friends and as far as I'm concerned, your lack of success is your own problem. It sounds to me like you're butthurt because they didn't make you feel special, but your attitude suggests that you don't really deserve it. Have fun in the real world though, because it will be even worse.

#5695 @5682: thanks for actually engaging in constructive dialogue. I agree with you on many points about the music department. I know as a major the workload is way more intense, and kudos to people who make it through.I know lots of very talented people in the dept, and am friends with a lot of them. I love those people dearly. But I can't be comfortable with a department that has that much self importance when it's so flawed as well. Nothing is perfect. But honestly it's been a hell of a ride. And I'm not joking or making things up when I ask fellow classmates about their experiences in the department, and they reply, "it's hard if you don't suck up to certain people" or "such and such professor thinks he/she is all that and plays favorites"... I've learned a lot, and I've seen and been in some amazing performances here. But ultimately, I don't think I'd go through that again. I learned a lot more from other departments which I'll miss sorely when I graduate. Good night to all, and good luck
#5694 Idk why but every semester something out of my control goes wrong. And despite being a few weeks away from the end of my college career it is again put on hold because the school made a mistake on their end at my expense. Do not know what to do any more.

#5691 Words are defined by other words which are defined by other words and we all just assume what everything means based on descriptions of words that we've come to some understanding for their meaning. That shit trips me out and also explains why language and communication is so difficult, because we can never fully express and even necessarily fully know something. Idk if this applies to numbers or not, they seem more direct but of course require words to explain them. If some sort of math could actually describe the universe in some TOE equation, I feel like we wouldn't even be able to fully comprehend it anyways simply by the fact that we understand things through language, even our thoughts are based in language. Also do bilingual people think in a different language than they speak?
