The atmosphere on campus is so toxic and completely unforgiving of questions and even dialogue. How can you expect anyone to want to change their mind or begin the process of understanding when their value as a human being is consistently being labelled? I am very confused by all of this, even more so as a PoC. I see all these people who attempt to speak for me and who tell me what I should feel even when I don't necessarily agree with all that is said and done. It's hard for me to ask questions because I worry about somehow being "less of a PoC" than I should be? Because I don't necessarily understand or support every movement or line of thinking on campus? Somehow, my thoughts not being completely aligned with and my skepticism of on-campus movements like SWN (sorry) makes me feel like a bad person and especially, a bad PoC.

As a super perceptive person, I am not surprised at all the anger released anonymously here. If you talk to people on campus and notice how hard they try to hide their true opinions and worry about being judged, everything here makes sense. Mac is a microcosm of today's America.

Tag a person who you love, makes you feel better when you are sad, listens to you when your stressed, or is just awesome in general. We are all apart of the same community here, we should be building each other up not tearing each other down!

I fucking hate when people suggest that others should "try being more confident." Ah yes! I didn't think that my confidence issues were the problem, but now that you mentioned it to me, all my issues are fixed! What a fucking miracle! All that needed to be done was for someone to tell me I needed to be more confident! Also, have you tried telling a depressed person they should try being happy more? How about suggesting to an overweight person "to eat less?" Fucking fuck, people sometimes

I, for one, think it's good that Mac Confessions exists. Look, the reality is that we're all pretty smart, outspoken people to be here, and that we're really, really progressive as a community. But when we're talking with actual people on campus (IE not on mac confessions), it gets pretty damn stale to talk the same, equally progressive friend group about how much of a complete shit Trump is. Or why we need to have more interesting conversations about marginalized groups. Or the million other shared opinions that get put in an echo chamber. Every. Single. Day. I'm not in school to be a parrot, and I don't think you are, too. Mac Confessions has a whole lot of drama. No doubt. There are certainly some anons that have opinions that genuinely concern me. At times, the vicious callout culture in the comments can get really toxic and too much to bear as well. But can't we agree that we're at least talking and debating a lot of important issues in a more genuine and honest manner than we do in person? If so, I think that's something really valuable, and worth wading through the amount of BS on this page for.

I too want to be paid for voluntarily choosing to comment on Mac Confessions posts. I know how to write information, where's my money?
