Asians are different from Asian Americans. Most Asians grow up being the majority while Asian Americans have to deal with identity issues and racism all the time. Asians, if you think you have it bad, imagine being born American but looking like a foreigner, having to explain your ancestor history without living the culture, and constantly being the middle, the mix, the outcast, the one who isn't.
I love hearing how ridiculously forced the gender-neutral "y'all" sounds intermixed in the vocabulary of some of my pretentious "wouldn't step foot south of the Mason-Dixie for fear of getting Conservative on my fancy hipster shoes" classmates. Y'all keep me entertained.
Do you think Sam Gilbert posts all these conservative posts so that he can comment on them?

Are we seriously not at the point of intellectual competence to realize that this shit about how the US military "defends the country" is complete bullshit? The US military is the bloody arm of imperialism in the world today. Its purpose has not been to defend the country in any meaningful capacity since the Second World War.
Sure there are people in the military still capable of human decency. But we must also remember Abu Ghraib, the My Lai massacre, and the countless other atrocities that have been committed in the name of "life liberty and the pursuit of happiness". The US military rapes, tortures, and murders with near impunity across the globe. Not with complete indiscretion, no. But upon the bodies of those that America has deemed unfit of self-rule and the right to life. It is not an imperfect institution nobly trying to protect US citizens, its primary function is to oppress, to yoke, and to rule. We can only "support our troops" insofar as we deny the humanity of the millions it has murdered, and that is not something I am willing to do.
The US military oils the machinery of modern capitalism with the blood of the global south, and that is something I care about far more than the self-esteem of its goons.
Fuck the military. Fuck war. Fuck capitalism.
