Hey,
If anyone is going to be in HU government next year or knows someone who will be in it, like this post. My friend from Brown University created a platform that worked awesome there, and they want to launch it here at HU too!
I confess, I really wish white folks would come correct when talking about racism instead of just throwing their hurt and confusion around. I think this is a useful primer: http://www.thefrisky.com/2014-06-12/18-things-white-people-should-knowdo-before-discussing-racism/
So both my girlfriend and I are hoping to do a threesome or swing with another couple at some point. I'm wondering how we can best proposition people with the idea without coming off as crass.
It's so good to be home. I wish Hamline had a boxing team. I used to box in high school and now I get to be back at home with my home gym and hang with my old buddies. All the boxing gyms in the Midway area are too expensive with mediocre quality.
I always tried to imagine the girl I would find who could be my "one"...my best friend....my partner.
I think I found that person...but he's a boy and straight, and now I'm confused.
Why is it not called 'equalism'? I mean if we're working on gender equality, should we use a word that inspires equality? I'm not trying to pick a fight or to offend anyone, I'm just genuinely curious on why we use a term like feminism? I apologize if I offended anyone/sounded like a jackass. I'm trying to better myself by getting the facts about something I don't know about. I know the Hamline community has a lot of intelligent people who know a lot about social justice, and I don't. Again, sorry if I come off as ignorant!
To OP on his/her FAFSA complaint confession: I am an independent student for FAFSA purposes, as I was from an abusive home. Here's some info on how you would become independent for FAFSA purposes:
I'm not sure I read that correctly regarding your teeth being fixed, but if there is physical abuse involved, it really substantiates your need for a dependency override. Contact the Financial Aid office, and they'll tell you the documents they need to give you a "dependency override", the formal term for the action.
There is a difference between being independent for tax purposes and independent for FAFSA purposes. For FAFSA purposes, you must be one of the following: married, over 24, a servicemember, an emancipated youth, or the recipient of a dependency override by Hamline. A dependency override occurs when a Financial Aid Administrator makes the determination that your circumstances are severe such that your family cannot be expected to make contributions to your education (ex: they have disowned you or abused you - physically, emotionally, sexually, etc.)
If you see a psychologist in health services or elsewhere on a regular basis, they can write a supporting statement and document your abuse, if you have shared your family circumstances with them.
IMPORTANT! Even though you've already filed and received your award package, you MAY be able to apply for the override and have a new FAFSA generated. I hope this helps, and I wish you the best of luck!
I've been seeing a lot of summer couples, makes me miss my ex-girlfriend.
