I hate it that Augie Choir gets all of the face time for the Augie Music Department. Imagine what Augie Choir would sound like if each individual member put in as much practice time as students from the instrumental ensembles do. I know this might not be true on an individual basis, but I see maybe 10% as many choral music students practicing as instrumental ones, and it's unfortunate. As an Augie Choir member, I hope that each of the choir members realizes that they are part of a whole department and that there is more to Augustana and the world than Augie Choir. Being part of an ensemble isn't just about the social experience and getting into the music, but spending the time to actually learn the music outside of rehearsal. Even though you are the top choral ensemble at Augustana, realize that there are thousands of other choral programs in colleges across the world working on some of the exact same music -- so work hard to make Augie Choir's sound its best.
