#5235 I tried to kill myself and it didn't work. I feel like I can't talk about it with anyone because then they would know how I was actually feeling and instantly stop wanting to be around me. I don't want to right now, but I feel like it's just a matter of time before I do it again and it scares me.
#5234 Even if we ended things a while back, I would love to have you back in my life as a friend.
#5233 @5227 Haha I laugh when I see the classroom "feminists" participating in rush and judging other girls on their appearance or telling girls they have to wear makeup or do their hair just to wear letters. And then they talk about how they're devoted to charity but they spend thousands of dollars on a label. Talk about money that could be devoted to better things. Greek life is privileged and selfish, and it reinforces the worst parts of society.
#5232 I wish S.B still were the president of AOII
#5231 @#5227, pretty sure feminism is fighting for women to have the freedom to choose whatever path, organizational membership, or career they want even if that doesn't line up with your intellectually pretentious and conceited viewpoint.
#5230 @5227 You're right, sororities are not exactly progressive institutions. As a sorority woman, I've felt my frustrations with the "traditional" values that I try to fight as a feminist. But with that said, many of my sisters are feminists and many Panhellenic sororities are trying to become more inclusive and modern. Sororities are all about female empowerment and even though they're a little behind, they ARE getting there. I'm sorry you don't see that, but hopefully sororities will one day be very feminist-friendly and change your mind about them (:
#5229 @5227 If you genuinely believe that, perhaps you should read up a bit on the history of Phi Mu and Alpha Delta Pi. Your assertion that they are an "institution built around misogyny and objectifying women" shows that you have limited knowledge of sororities in general.
