#5379 I've been following along the whole time and I'm actually loving this Spectrum debate. Random people - "Spectrum is not open to hearing about or working to amend the struggles of students or even having a conversation about issues on campus." Spectrum members - "Shut up. You're wrong for saying anything mean about us. Everything you say is so wrong. Your struggles never happened and we're all super nice. And besides, no one is being specific so there's nothing we can do." Random people - "Fine. Here's the specifics." Spectrum members - "Nope that's not helpful. Why would you post that here?" It's actually brilliant how ironic it all is. All thanks to some asshole on yik yak who decided to accuse people of not really being gay since they didn't hold the same perspective. I hope you all are proud for how you represent the LGBT community. Seriously. It might be a shit show, but at least it's an entertaining one. To the one spectrum guy/gal that apologized though, you really are a fantastic and inspiring human being. I wish the rest of the group was more like you.

#5378 Fuck. One of my professors knows about Rollins Confessions. But he's badass and awesome, so it's okay.

#5377 @5371 it's not helpful because you're not using it. You could, to work towards amending things, but instead you're focusing on irrelevant things like the fact that it's on this website. The point of all of this is not to crucify or bully individuals for their poor choices, it's to show the rest of the school why Spectrum has the reputation it has and to start a discussion about inclusiveness and respect towards LGBT students on this campus. So far it's worked. The dismissive attitude from spectrum members on here in addition to the stories being told are starting a lot of online and offline conversation. People are seeing what every one has been complaining about with their own eyes. Now that it's out there, it's up to Spectrum to decide if they want to continue to show how blatantly closed off they are to many LGBT students or if they want to do something productive about the situation.

#5376 In May, you'll graduate and become an alumna. I hope you remember everything you did while you were a president to all of the girls who had a special status. And I hope you realize that their situation is much worse than yours will be. You know life has a way of being fair to everyone, you too will become an alumna and be completely powerless unlike last year when you thought you could treat girls like dirt because you were the president. You're beginning to have a taste of your own medicine by reading all of these confessions and not being a president anymore. But just wait to when you become and alumna, and you won't even be allowed to volunteer for the lowest of positions within our sorority until you complete two years of alumna status. Good luck!

#5375 If you want to know more about this chapter, which I won't say the name to try to be respectful but you'll know who it is, just pay attention to not only the confessions here but also how people react to it. When people from spectrum try to defend their organization in here, they try to find out exactly who did the things mentioned here and they try to get more information so they can work on a solution to ultimately help the people and avoid more people being hurt. Every single time someone said something about your sisterhood, you didn't bother to try to make it better for that person or to see what you can improve, instead you all just kept asking and "shouting louder" for the person to stop. That reflects the culture of this chapter, a culture that asks young woman to shut up instead of valuing different peoples opinions and genuinely trying to improve. Also you have reinforced everything that was being said here, because you showed everyone that reads this page that if someone attacks the president, or a person with authority, then you will defend the president with all of your strength online and by bullying people in person, but if someone attacks any other sister, or hurts her in any way you won't do anything and pretend nothing happened. That says a lot about this chapter and the girls who are in it. To me, more than the original confessions, this behavior shows a weak sisterhood.

#5374 ladies, you'll need more than Facebook statuses flattering the frat boys for serenading you and pics of you doing service with puppies to cover up for the shitshow that your sisterhood has become here. #justsaying step up your game

#5373 I was thinking about coming to Rollins next year, but after reading this page I am horrified. I loved visiting this campus so I’m sad to see it’s not the place for me, but the fact that LGBT students feel so ostracized and the only responses I am seeing are ones that shut them down for expressing their frustrations has made me realize that I cannot live in this kind of environment for 4 years. I won’t do it. It’s terrifying.
