#5515 Why does it seem like every few weeks this page erupts with posts of the LGBT community tearing each other down? Someone posts a seemingly innocent confession about how they feel about something and everyone else ju

#5514 You know you go to Rollins when you hear someone say there is no such thing as gay culture. There might not be a real lgbt community at this school, but there is in fact such a thing as gay culture. I promise it's a real thing, whether or not you personally identify with it or have experienced it. Such a blatantly incorrect statement is pretty awful, even at a school that is known for its apathy on social issues

#5513 I'm once again shocked at the hostility of replies when someone voices an opinion on LGBT issues. No one is being homophobic. They are simply expressing a different opinion and in fact, it sounds like they are gay themselves. But god forbid someone on this campus questions anything about the subject without being torn down. Thank god I found a more accepting LGBT community outside this school or I probably would have dropped out

#5511 Why doesn't the LGBT community just petition to remove the first amendment? Telling me a word like "queer" hurts your feelings is absolutely pathetic, that's why people pick on you. This is Life, not fuckin elementary school people. I get offended when I say ugly ass people with a shit ton of money and beautiful women, but I don't run around Demanding that I have the equivalent. You guys have equal rights! your freedom of express and speech just like us; if you push for equal right try not to take mine away from me you sleezs balls... Also another thought, for people who don't like certain words used to describe them, don't segregate yourselves with your stupid as labels and society groups. Beggars Can't Be Choosers. Just a thought, equality doesn't mean taking away from those who already have... just a thought

#5510 I think humanity needs to work on not seeing things so black and white. I see it on this page all the time, where someone will post an opinion about something, and then someone who disagrees will comment saying that opinion is wrong. But I mean, just because you disagree doesn't mean it is wrong. Maybe you both can be right, or you both can be wrong. Especially in questions about values, where there really is not a factual correct answer. Take this latest post about heteronormativity for example. I can see the poster's intentions. I agree with some of the sentiments, especially in regards to embracing an identity of being different and not giving up the culture that makes the LGBT community so special. I also think that there is nothing wrong with pointing out that you can be more than just gay. But what bothers me is the definitive nature of opinions, as though one opinion is fact and the other is simply wrong. I believe we should state our opinions with a preface of "I think" or "In my opinion" rather than stating them as fact. Some people seem to do a good job at this, and I appreciate those people a lot. It feels like most of us are not so open-minded.

#5509 @#5502 I'm gay, but how come everyone (including other gays) expect me to be a part of whatever "gay culture" is? Not all of us "talk gay", watch Ru Paul, listen to Beyonce, dress flamboyantly, or do any of the other stereotypically gay things that are associated with "gay culture". I fully embrace myself and thats all that matters.

#5508 @#5502- Thats a strange thing to be bothered about. How about you mind your own business and let people act how they want or associate with whoever they want? In reality there is no such thing as gay culture. I'm gay but I am just like everyone else. I just happen to like guys. Also, don't call me queer ;)
