#5738 Whenever I see mean and hateful comments on this website, I'm always 99.9999% they're all from one person who is making things up and talking to themselves and then I feel bad for that person because their life must be pretty much the worst to waste time on such petty things.
But then I feel really great about all the amazing people I know who build people up instead of tearing others down, and I realize that it's necessary to have those dark spots in the world to realize how beautiful the rest of it is.

#5735 @5733 we as a chapter didn't elect JR. The alumnae council did. Because they chose her, her election wasn't the regular one where the candidate leaves the room for us to discuss freely and everyone casts a confidential vote. Simply she was put in the middle of the room, and K and SB told us that she would be elected unless someone said out loud in front of everyone and in front of her that they didn't want her, and nominated someone else in which case there would be a voting but no discussion. Now, I didn't want her to be president but I felt it would be disrespectful towards her to stand up and say I don't want JR to be president. I don't think anyone would have the guts to do that. So again we didn't elect her, the alumnae advisory council did. This one is on them. Plus every time she abused her power, Anne, our chapter advisor pretended she didn't see and in the few times anyone complained directly to Anne, she'd stand by JR's side. Maybe if she had been more of an advisor instead of an enabler, this wouldn't be happening. This one is on her. As to her having alcohol issues and having to take a medical leave, I wasn't aware of it as I'm sure some of the girls didn't either, given that some of us were recently initiated and that these things are supposed to be confidential. I don't like JR, but if that alcohol story is indeed true I feel like this shouldn't even be an argument for her bad presidency. She could have been a great president despite alcohol issues, and the opposite is true too. She can be a horrible president and be perfectly sober. Mental health issues don't define someone's character. As to stopping the hate towards her, I agree. But let's not be hypocritical and everyone hate her but treat other sisters badly because they expressed their dislike of JR, as I've witnessed previously with a sister who's not in the chapter anymore. She's my friend, and I know how much her actions plus how some girls treated her are affecting her. If we're going to stand by JR side, the lets not be hypocritical and stand by all sisters, regardless of status, active, early alumnae, inactive.
#5733 My fellow AOIIs, the JR hate needs to stop. We as a chapter elected someone who had to leave for a semester for alcohol problems and never held a position in our chapter when there were two better options. We made the mistake and we should learn from it. She leaves in a week so be respectful.
