in response to that confession about consent and guys being "freaked out" and "paralyzed," I think there's truth to that. As a straight guy who came to Mac and was taught all the consent stuff, I was too scared to make any first moves for over a year and was scared shitless that I would "violate consent" somehow. So don't hate on "shy guys," shit, blame the overhyped consent culture or something ? or pin them against a wall ?
Heard on campus today: Conversation to the effect of "gosh, people complain about funding for the arts, but look at Olin-Rice!" Because Olin-Rice programs are unfunded and it's falling apart? Because ALL the large classrooms being built for an "arts" building are going to mostly be used by "olin-rice" and there's gonna be a skyway connection?? Probably half the reason admin could "justify" it? Pretty sure people aren't just "complaining" about funding for the "arts," they're concerned about the humanities and social sciences and more. When was the last time Carnegie was substantially renovated or improved? Don't see anyone complaining about that.
Ever since I was little I've been a "high functioning" depressed/anxious person, and usually was able to use my school work as an escape, but for the first time this semester I've been depressed in a way that makes me so lethargic that I sometimes can't get anything done. All I want to do is sleep but now is the worst time to do that
Feel free to hold the opinion that the white girls in bodacious, we all have opinions that need to find their way into a garbage can. In reality hip hop dancing just requires ass. Like a lot of it. The majority of hip hop refers to ass shaking, clapping, and twerking and well the white girls in Bodacious are just missing that. I think consent is incredibly important and macalester does a really amazing job of drilling that into people's heads. However, sometimes I feel frustrated that some guys are so freaked out by it that they're like paralyzed. Of course this is a MUCH better extreme, but where can I find a guy who is willing to just pin me up against a wall and slap me around a little? Ugh just a little over all the shy boys
