I get frustrated when white-passing mixed people (especially those with "white" names) play the victim card when they should know damn well that they haven't faced the same level of oppression as brown and black people. (I also find it awkward when mixed people call themselves white-passing when they're not. I mean, context matters, but yeah, makes me feel weird...)

the white students just didnt want to write a paper and tokenized a bunch of students of color, like susanna, into performing a pointless gesture that does nothing to address racism. if anything, it has contributed to racism as fragile white people now feel very attacked and are posting it all over this confessions page...

I wish I could feel the anger that other students at Mac feel towards injustice and discrimination. But, honestly, I can't feel much of anything at all, and that's becoming a problem.
I have a really honest question but I'm scared to ask it because I've been conditioned by Mac to be so afraid to say anything

So many people are irritated at the fact that SWN was all white people (ps I'm white). I didn't participate for similar reasons to that that I am having a hard time verbalizing, but at a place like Mac that is already a) so white and b) so liberal/concerned with social justice, it just felt like it wasn't really my place. So I totally get that. But I also know that people of privilege (white ppl) should use their privilege to elevate concerns of those who are oppressed. So why is this event full of white people so upsetting to so many (myself included)? Wouldn't silence by all the white ppl at Mac be condemned, too? Isn't silence irresponsible? If you say nothing, you are complicit?
I'm just trying to figure out how I can feel both of those things at once. Is SWN just so irritating to me bexause it seems useless at Mac/white guilt-alleviating/kind of self-indulgent and circle-jerky? I'd like to learn about this if anyone is willing to share thoughts
