"When you're a graduate, you don't really get a chance to get to know everyone you wish you could have, and the most you can do most of the time is scratch at the door online. It kinda blows. That said, a word to everyone on this page complaining about not having the guts to introduce yourself and take that chance; just do it. Yes, in person. Online is depersonalizing and insubstantial. Chances are that they'll appreciate that someone shows some kind of interest in them, and the fact that it's in person makes it feel that much more genuine and a hell of a lot less creepy. That's an easy thing to forget, but everyone wants to feel wanted and accepted. Nobody likes to gamble and lose, but hey- nothing ventured, nothing gained. Chances are that you won't creep them out right away, and even if they shut you down before they even get to know you, then that's their own shallowness to deal with, or maybe you're just not each other's type. You waste less time biding, and you can move on to better people more quickly. What do you have to lose, save for a sliver of your pride, which grows back in no time? The fewer opportunities you withhold from yourself, the less you have to regret. Disregard that last post telling you to clam up. You can't let your fear of people being closed off or ungenuine turn you into a similar animal. This is a chance to leave all that noise behind along with anyone else who fails to do so.
You owe it to yourselves to shut your laptops and go outside this year. Hold yourselves to that at least a couple times a week, or whatever stretches your comfort zone in a positive manner. I assure you; you'll be glad you did."
"Has no friends..."
"I'm very excited to start school because I have a horrid track record of making lasting friends, but I'm still afraid I wont make any. Also I'm an introvert."

"Looks like this may be my first and last year at hamline, $$$ <<<< cheaper university here I come!"
"you can't help who you fall in love with, so don't beat yourself up about it"
"I'm looking forward to getting back to campus so I can have sex with my significant other on a more constant basis."
