I love being in the criminal justice program here because of how great the classes and professors are, but I really can't help but be pissed off sometimes in class by my fellow students. When you are surrounded by female students, and especially when the professor is female, can you keep your sexist ideas/comments to yourself or work at educating yourself as to why what you are saying might be really offensive? We know what we're getting into and we can take it, by saying these things you are just demonstrating your ignorance on the matter of women in general. Seriously, it's not ok and you really need to understand that, if not just to understand the world in general then because you will have females on the force with you and even when dealing with citizens (either offenders, victims, or just the general public) there needs to be a level of respect no mater who you are dealing with. Partly, I'm calling you out because these are awful assumptions to make about people based on one factor of their identity, but I really want to just encourage you to educate yourselves so that we can work toward making the world better, as is what I would hope one would go into law enforcement to do in the first place.

That awkward moment when you know two people getting into a virtual cat-fight and can't help but understand where both are coming from but think they both took things a bit too far and got overly harsh rather than just simply stating their point and moving on, accepting that they have contrasting views on the matter... I hate being the understanding neutral party sometimes.

Someone posted a buzzfeed article about men posting pictures of what their rapists told them and I clicked on it because I thought it was cool, only to start to have a panic attack and relive what my own attacker told me. I just want to talk to my parents about it, but that just opens up a whole 'nother can of worms and I don't want to break my parents heart knowing what I went through.

Once I stole a pair of red underwear from Victoria's Secret. My mom wouldn't buy them for me b/c she said they were Satan's panties.

My mother has schizophrenia, short version is it's a mental illness where you hear voices. Things that go bump in the night, heights, all that stuff, none of it scares me like the fear of developing the same mental illness. When you live with someone who has it, you see how terrifying it can be even if you understand it. I wish Hamline acknowledged mental illness more, they seem to acknowledge everything else.

So my Docs let me know I've got one of those "doesn't have a proper definition" eating disorders. Gee well since there are only two defined ones it makes sense I wouldn't have either of them. Me and half the rest of the country. Anyway, so now that I know what I've suspected for years but was never allowed to ask about because my mother was breathing down my neck whenever I visited the doctors, I've come to the conclusion that, I confess, I wanna tell my entire family to "Suck it". I was gonna say something else but I don't think you can swear on here. They always treated my issues with food by making me feel like the worst person in the world, and they never actually tried to help me. I grew to hate eating around them for all the disapproving stares and "Here I'll dish it up for you dear" and "Are you sure you want to eat that?" or even "Let me order for you, this salad sounds good" All I want to do is look them in the face and say "Suck it, you're half the reason I'm as messed up as I am and some days I hate you all for it. I'm 20 years old, after a decade of this do you really think I don't know how to eat to be healthy?" Of course I'm never going to tell them that, but it feels good to say it somewhere.
